I have discovered a pretty remarkable organization called Team Rubicon. The organization focuses on disaster response and is absolutely free to those recipients of said response. One of the headings on their “Our Mission” page is “Serving the Underserved.” Love it!

I loved it so much that I signed up, took the basic training courses and will, hopefully, be deployed on an operation before too long. Another great thing is that they take pretty much anyone who wants to help people and, of course, pass the background check. If you require training, they will provide it. You just show up with your boots be ready to work.

In my older years, the feeling I’ve had for a long time is becoming harder to ignore… the feeling that I need to help people who are unable to help themselves. I have said many times that if I had my career to choose over again, I would have chosen differently. Team Rubicon and my involvement with the Masons are allowing me to keep my current career while scratching that large itch to serve and help people.
